A game they could have won handily came down to the last minute of the game. In fact, everything since week five has been decided in the final minute of the game. They started the season 0-2, so they are actually 7-3 since those games. So, the close games have been to their benefit for the most part. Each ending has been unique to itself and this one saw the defense come up big in the second half. They’ve done that a few times this season as both units have done their thing at one point or another. Instead, former head coach Lovie Smith allegedly pushed hard to take Derek Stingley Jr. Sting came with a lot of hype, but a lot more question marks. At one point he was considered the unchallenged best cornerback in college football. Then the injury bug bit him, again and again. In that storied year, Sting had 31 solo tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 21 passes defensed and 6 interceptions. As you can imagine that was more than the entire rest of his collegiate production. For the 8TH STRAIGHT CONTEST, a Houston Texans game came down to the final 2 minutes, with the margin being within one score. During this stretch, the Houston Texans have gone 4-3 in such contests. After holding on for the 22-17 win, they are now 5-3 in such contests. For awhile, it looked like Houston might have a comfortable win, jumping up 13-0 and 22-10 at various points in the game. Yet, this is the 2023 Texans. All games henceforth shall come down to the final 2 minutes, with the margin of the score to be within one score. Likely the Texans shall hold the lead, but it is not a given. The opposing team, if trailing, will get the ball within the Texans’ 25 at a minimum, if not the Red Zone. If the team surrenders a FG, then it is game over. If it is holding the opponents out of the end zone, the odds are better. Just expect that for the Collapse

It may have escaped the notice of the average Houston Texans fan that the team has a 7-5 record going into the last five games of the season. Okay, that part I’m sure even the most basic Texans fan would notice. But if you haven’t been paying attention the last two years, and why the hell would you, it’s also true that this year’s Texans team has already matched their win total from the last two years combined. That’s not saying a ton for the Texans of the past, but it speaks volumes for how much of a turnaround this has been; going from one of the worst years of Texans football I’ve ever seen to this wondrous, and more importantly, fun, season that may extend beyond week 18 if the Texans play their cards right.
